1827 RONNIE APRIL'S POSITIVE ENERGY VOLUME 1 JUDE RECORDS 25.00 (SEALED)

It gives me real pleasure to be able to offer you this legendary album at such a fine price, I've been
dealing records for many years now and opportunities like this simply don't come along very often.
This is it, THE legendary release by Ronnie April's Positive Energy, pressed by Ronnie on his own
Jude imprint and distributed only locally by him without success, leading to the disappearance of all
but a few copies. An impossibly rare holy grail which has changed hands in the past for as much as
£300! Mainly though, it simply never turns up and for the most part remained unknown to most,
although "Snowflake" has been a stable of the jazzdance scene for years and the track was even
bootlegged at one point. Imagine then, my pleasure at finding a box of sealed original copies, a factory sealed box which left the pressing plant in the Bronx over a quarter of a century ago and remained untouched and unopened until now! We're talking serious sweaty palms here, people! Most importantly, the music is amazing - composer, arranger, producer, saxophonist, clarinetist and flautist, Ronnie April has performed with many greats such as Tito Puente, Frank Foster, Nat Adderley, Lionel Hampton, and Louis Armstrong, to name a few. Which, of course, explains why his first solo release is such an assured one. With Brazilian jazz dancer "Snowflake" remaining the star cut - a Joe Sample composition combining strong samba rhythms with funk coupled with some very fine sax and piano solos and swirling female vocals - this is one smoking tune! There's a lot more to this album too, it has a really cool jazzy disco sound which happens to be very much in favour today, a kind of deep disco feel with strong jazz flavours and tons of female vocals/scats. Think a jazzy, funky version of Milton Hamilton's 'My Love Supreme' and that whole underground disco scene, and you've got the sound of "Dancer's Theme" with it's great funky bassline, gliding keys, flying horn solos and solid club groove! "Rasmonde" features some really deep Rhodes grooving as does "Sure, Sure, Sure", while "Diamonds For Ida" has a killer uptempo modal/scats feel... Phew!!

Ultra-rare jazz from Belgium, brilliant sextet that deliver an amazing version of "Veracruz", great

The trio also counts with the presence of Ewa Manat on vocals and Janusz Mych on flute on certain
numbers, like the dreamy "Tempus Jazz 67" with its floating vibes and evocative humming vocals.

Rare mid-sixties release, a bit of hiss on the otherwise mint album due to what seems to be a
common presing fault for this label at the time. Sax/trumpet/vibes/piano sextet with Elvin Jones on

1841 FRONTLINERS FRONTLINERS '87 UNDERCURRENT (SEALED) 20.00

Just recently came across a small stash of these, only a handful available... a recording project from
'87, forming part of the same series which began several volumes earlier with the very rare Black
United Frontliners (I'm down to my last few copies on that one now, take note - see website!). This
particular volume also features a wide variety of group and musicians, such as The New World
Percussion Ensemble, an eight piece band coming on like a cross between Leon Thomas, Burning Spear & War, on "Land Of The Drum". Spoken Afro-poetry on "Fancy Footwork" from Phavia
Kujichagulia, sweet jazz vocals from The Wobogo Jazz Ensemble and an assortment of musical
experiments with proto-rap, spoken word mixed with solo sax etc

One of the best, and most overlooked LPs in the highly collectible RCI Series. Cosmic jazz fusion of
the highest order, with wife Kathryn Moses on flute. The 13 minute plus epic title track is the standout, although the Blue Mitchell-style funky jazz of "Hidden Strength also rates very highly. Personally I go for the Brazilian-tinged "Dreamship", lovely key-changes and fierce flute!

unique-sounding brew, this is a deep mix of fusion, spiritual-modal jazz and latin, taking you on a truly
satisfying musical journey, with delights such as 'Southamelodic', 'In The Dawn Of Time', 'The Prime
Element' and 'Lola'.

Although he is best known for his classical music interprtations, jazz was his first love and MPS was
the perfect place for him to wig out at leisure with no limits or boundaries. Quite the weird fellow, he
was known for sometimes performing piano concerts totally naked! Here, he is fully clothed and
playing as a duet with piano and electric piano vs Klaus Weiss on drums. Gatefold issue.

box set. CTI wrote plenty of cheques when it came to the accompanying orchestra too, just about
anyone who's anyone is on here - Billy Cobham, Bob James, Randy Brecker, Hubert Laws, Freddie
Hubbard, Grover Washington Jr., George Benson, Airto, Ron Carter to name just a few out of what
feels like a cast of thousands! The seventies and their magnificent excesses... Thankfully the music
lives up to its hype, it's a lush, fender-soaked, cinematic soundscape, with choirs, strings & horns as
well as tight-woven funky jazz grooves. Oh, and tons of breaks. "Psalm 150", "Semi-Tough",
